The Hindu Council of Kenya (Eldoret) on Thursday donated an assortment of items including blankets and mattresses that will go towards the support of ACK Ziwa High School following a fire incident in one of the dormitories..
A dormitory was razed down by an inferno. It led to students losing all their personal items. However, no one was injured.
The fire was caused by electricity faults.
Speaking while receiving the donation, Deputy Governor Eng. John Barorot thanked the Hindu council for the donations of the assortment saying it will go a long way to help to manage the disaster response drive.
County Executive Committee Member for Education Anthony Sitienei called up other well-wishers to come to the aid of the students so that learning can resume as soon as possible.
Purpose-driven learning
He also urged students to review up their ambitions for success through hard work in their studies.
“Learning should be purpose-driven and when energized by the zeal, success becomes inevitable,” the CECM said.
On his part, the County Executive Committee Member for Health Services Dr. Abraham Serem used the forum to encourage students to work hard for a better future.
Serem also called upon students to remain focused and excel in their studies and extra-curricular activities in order to adequately prepare for future challenges.
“You are our ambassadors. We expect you to maintain discipline, hard work, and stellar performance,” he said.
Karthik Acharya, who led the team from the council, said “We will continue offering support in collaboration with the county so as to uplift the lives of the residents.”
The school principal thanked Governor Dr. Jonathan Bii EGH for his continued support to ensure that the students excel.
County Director for Vocational Training Phyllis Lagat, among other county officials was present.
