FKF Women Division One League: Race for Promotion Too Tight to Call

By James Ahela

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Women Division One Zone B league race for promotion slots intensifies as contenders fight for the available slots.

Royal Starlets registered a 2-1 win over Eldoret Falcons as Gideons Starlets outclassed Bungoma Queens.

Falcons who were hosting the Kitale-based side opened the scores early in the first half with a hard struck short from Miriam Miriam Chenamai.

The hosts lost their lead in the seventy fifth minute after Daisy Pusia netted a spot kick moments after being brought down by Anne Njoki.

Royals’ Sharon Mato’s cross was tapped home by Agneta Makonjo five minutes to stoppage time to seal a win for the visitors.

The match which was played under heavy downpour saw both teams try to create chances to be in a position to get to the promotion slots as the league gets closer to completion.

Elsewhere in Opanga primary school, Bungoma Queens felt their heaviest defeat of the season going down 6-1 to the hosts.

Bungoma needed a win or a draw to raise their hopes of getting promoted to the women premier league but the loss now places them on a tight rope for the promotion battle with two matches remaining.

Gideons are now neck-to-neck with last season’s runners up Royal Starlets, although with an inferior goal difference.

Here’s the table for the FKF Women Division One Zone B League table before last weekend’s games.
