Four North Rift Politicians Land Government Jobs

A former Governor in the North Rift region is among several latest appointments that President William Ruto has made to various state corporations.

A former deputy governor and former Members of Parliament in the region have also benefited from the appointments announced via a gazette notice on February 10, 2023.

Cleophas Lagat who served as the pioneer Nandi Governor has been appointed the new Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Rivatex East Africa Limited.

Former Uasin Gishu Deputy Governor Daniel Chemno has also landed a government job.

President Ruto has appointed him the Chairperson of the Board of Directors for the New Kenya Planters Co-operative Union.

Chemno served as the Uasin Gishu deputy governor from 2013 to 2022 under Jackson Mandago, who is now the Uasin Gishu Senator.

He was an aspirant for the Ainabkoi MP seat in the August 9 poll but failed to clinch the UDA ticket.

Former Marakwet South MP Daniel Rono is also among the beneficiaries of the latest appointments.

After failing in his re-election bid, having lost at the UDA nominations, Rono is now the new Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA).

Three-year appointment

Further, former Elgeyo Marakwet County Woman MP Jane Chebaibai has been appointed the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Bomas of Kenya.

Chebaibai’s appointment takes effect from February 10, 2023. She replaces Khadija Awale.

Other notable appointments from the Rift Valley region include former Kericho Deputy Governor Lily Ng’ok who is the new Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Kenya Industrial Estates.

Former Law Society of Kenya (LSK) President Nelson Havi who unsuccessfully vied for the Westlands MP seat on a UDA ticket has been appointed Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Retirement Benefits Authority.

Meanwhile, the appointments are for a term of three years.
