Gideon’s upbeat as Women Division One Race Intensifies

Gideon’s Starlets manager Peter Ademba has his eyes focused on women’s premier league promotion after hammering Rongai Eaglets 9-0 in Kenya Women’s Division One League match over the weekend.

Gideon’s who were leading the log by a point before the weekend kick-off moved further ahead by demolishing minnows Rongai to fuel up the race in the Zone B of the division one league.

Ivone Ogada and Faith Omuyaku scored four goals each as speedy winger Catherine Kizito scored one to seal victory for the hosts.

Ademba now has geared up focus in the top of the table finish having lost in the last season’s promotion playoff to Kibera Soccer Ladies FC.

Second-placed Kisped Queens were engaged in the FKF Women Cup quarter-finals going down 3-0 against Kenya Women Premier League (KWPL) side Ulinzi starlets.

On the other hand, Bungoma Queens who are closing in the third position were not involved in the weekend fixtures.

Upcoming Fixtures

Bungoma will travel to Kitale for a midweek fixture against rivals Royal Starlets.

Further, Kisped will look to catch up with league leaders on Wednesday as they host seventh-placed Eldoret Falcons.

Meanwhile, in other results for the FKF Women’s Cup, Kibera Ladies hammered Kahawa Queens 7-0 in a one-sided encounter while Kitale-based Royal Starlets fell 2-0 at home to visitors Kisumu All Starlets.

Nakuru City Queens secured a semi-final slot with a 2-0 win away at Thika Queens.

In the semi-finals slated for the end of May, Ulinzi starlets, the current champions will face Kisumu All Starlets while Nakuru Queens will battle Kibera Ladies.

FKF Women’s Cup final is scheduled for June 4, 2023.
