Government Disburses December Funds for Inua Jamii Cash Transfer, NICHE Complementary Programme

The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection on Friday, December 29, 2023, released Ksh2.089 billion for payment to beneficiaries enrolled in the Inua Jamii program.

A further Ksh5.93 billion was also released for Nutrition Improvement through Cash and Health Education (NICHE) which is a complimentary programme.

In a statement on Tuesday, Labor and Social Protection Cabinet Secretary Florence Bore said the funds were credited to the accounts of 1,044,922 Inua Jamii beneficiaries.

Each beneficiary will receive Ksh2,000 being payment for December 2023.

Payment was set to commence on Tuesday, January 2, 2024.

Following the Presidential Directive, Inua Jamii Beneficiaries will be receiving their stipends through Mpesa platform,” CS Bore said.

Orphans and Vulnerable Children beneficiaries Cash Transfer (OVC-CT) and Persons with Severe Disabilities beneficiaries Cash Transfer (PwSD-CT) caregivers are required to enrol for Mpesa payments by dialing *222# using their registered phone numbers

The CS said the first phase of Mpesa payments commences for OVC-CT and PwSD-CT while Older Persons Cash Transfer (OP-CT) beneficiaries will continue to receive their funds through their bank accounts as usual.

Beneficieries receive Ksh2,000 monthly under the progam.

Inua Jamii Programme is a Government Cash Transfer Initiative that supports the most vulnerable members of the community by providing them with a stipend to cushion them from poverty, humher and improve their lives.
