Outgoing Kesses Member of Parliament Dr Swarup Mishra has been a subject of discussion on various social media pages since he lost in the August 9 general election.
Mishra was seeking re-election for a second term on an independent ticket but lost to UDA’s CPA Julius Ruto.
Official results announced by IEBC Kesses Constituency Returning Officer Mathew Chenger indicated that he had garnered 21,404 votes to finish second behind CPA Ruto who had 32,839 votes.

His loss came as a surprise to many, based on assumptions that the legislator had done so much to the constituents. All throughout his 5-year tenure, he has been seen supporting the youth, women, and farmers among others in a bid to empower them economically and socially.

And recently, there emerged claims on Twitter and Facebook that the legislator had withdrawn his support to at least 300 students.
The students, the claims note, were depending on Mishra financially to pay for their school fees.
“Mishra Kiprop, former Mp for Kesses withdraws scholarship for 300students, who were members of his constituency,” read one of the tweets about the claim.
Mishra reign in Kesses
A number of influential social media users had already waded into the matter.
“If it’s true that immediate former member of Parliament for Kesses Constituency Mishra has withdrawn personal sponsorships to students after he was voted out, then he NEVER deserved to be ELECTED on the first place. This GREED & SELFISHNESS 101 from our Politicians! Unfortunate!” Lord Abraham Mutai tweeted.

But in what might put the discussion to an end, the outgoing MP has finally came out to put things straight.
In a reply to one of the tweets spreading the claims Mishra said they were not true.
“This is utterly incorrect and in bad taste,” he said.
However, it remains unclear if the Twitter handle that termed the claims incorrect is for the outgoing legislator or not since it is not a verified account, unlike his Facebook page.
