‘I’m A Small Man but with Huge Brains and Strategies’: Saboti MP Responds to DP Ruto’s Demeaning Remarks

Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi has condemned remarks made by Deputy President William Ruto on Sunday, May 8, 2022, when he led the Kenya Kwanza Alliance brigade’s economic forum held in Kitale town.

Speaking in his constituency, Amisi said DP Ruto should have squared out his political battles with Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition flag bearer Raila Odinga instead of directing his frustrations to him.

The Deputy President convened an economic forum but instead of telling the delegates how he intends to transform Kenya’s economy if he becomes the President, he was busy campaigning for my opponents in the Parliamentary race,” Amisi said.

The first-term lawmaker elected on an ODM ticket dared the DP to shelve his Presidential ambition and face him in the Saboti Constituency parliamentary race.

I am telling the DP that Caleb is a small man but with huge brains and strategies. I am asking him to come to face me in Saboti. He can be assured I will send him into political oblivion,” Amisi said.

The flamboyant and charismatic legislator claimed that DP Ruto fronted and handed over the UDA certificate to Tuwan Ward Member of County Assembly Bernard Wambwa to divide Luhya votes in the cosmopolitan constituency.

“We know Ruto wants to divide our votes so that Michel Mbito of Jubilee party wins in these elections. But I am telling them, Caleb will win because I won even in 2017 when I did not have a godfather,” he said.

Addressing delegates drawn from the five sub-counties in Trans Nzoia County on Sunday, DP Ruto asked Saboti people to vote for a Kenya Kwanza Alliance candidate.

This is Saboti constituency, isn’t it? Here we have two candidates, Joseph Pepela of FORD Kenya and Bernard Wambwa of UDA. We shall come back and agree on one candidate who will send home the ODM-know it all guy,” Ruto said.

Saboti constituency parliamentary race has attracted five candidates including the incumbent Caleb Amisi, Trans Nzoia Senator Michael Mbito (Jubilee party), Tuwan ward MCA Bernard Wambwa (UDA), former MP David Wafula (DAP-K), and Joseph Pepela (FORD Kenya).
