When Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii Chelilim named his cabinet on Tuesday, one name on the list kind of stood out – Lucy Ng’endo Njoroge.
This name stood out first because when it was mentioned, unlike other names, there was a bit of murmur – perhaps signalling a sizeable number of locals that had come to witness the unveiling of the cabinet did not expect it.
To many, they thought this was the former Huruma Member of County Assembly (MCA) who lost in the August 9 polls.
What might have failed to catch the ear of the listeners, at that time, was the fact that the governor when mentioning this name started with Engineer.

A keen listener would have easily known that the Eng. Lucy Ng’endo Njoroge nominated to be the Sports County Executive Committee Member (CECM) was different from Lucy Ng’endo Njoroge the former MCA.
Some even went ahead to send out congratulatory messages to the former MCA.
Same name different person
But as it would turn out, they congratulated the wrong person.
The nominee, in this case, was the former running mate to Mwalimu William Kirwa who vied for the Uasin Gishu gubernatorial seat on a United Democratic Movement (UDM) ticket.

This is a fact that the former Huruma MCA later clarified on her official Facebook page.
In a post on Wednesday, October 5, 2022, the widow to the late long-serving Huruma MCA Peter Chomba admitted that he had actually applied for the CECM position and was called for the interviews, only that she did not make it.
“Good morning friends, let me clarify here. You sent me congratulatory messages thinking it’s me. I applied for the CEC position and was called for the interview, unfortunately it’s not me. We share the same 3 name. What a coincidence!!! Thank you for wishing me well. Let me wish her well in her new role,” she said.
The former MCA had vied for the seat on a UDA ticket but lost to Jubilee candidate Wakili Kimani Wanjohi.
