Uasin Gishu County has two new County Executive Committee Members (CECMs).
The two new CECMs, Dr Phillip Chebunet of Trade, Industrialization, Tourism and Enterprise Development and Public Service Management’s Loice Cheruiyot took oath of office on Monday, May 18, 2026 at an event witnessed by Governor Jonathan Bii Chelilim.
Members of the Uasin Gishu County Assembly approved the nomination of the two CECMs following a vetting process.

Chebunet takes over from Eng Martha Cheruto who reportedly resigned and moved abroad while Cheruiyot takes over from Eng Joseph Lagat whom was sacked about a month ago.
“Congratulations to the newly sworn-in County Executive Committee Members, Dr. Phillip Chebunet, who will now serve in the Department of Trade, Industrialization, Tourism and Enterprise Development, and Loice Cheruiyot, who takes up the Department of Public Service Management, Administration and Devolved Units,” Governor Bii posted on his verified Facebook page.
The county boss said the appointment of the two comes at a crucial moment as his administration continues to accelerate the implementation of the transformative Nguzo Kumi development agenda, which is geared towards improving the livelihoods of our people across the county.

“I have full confidence in their ability to provide strong leadership, and enhance service delivery, towards achieving meaningful and sustainable development for the benefit of our residents,” the governor said.
