Kanduyi MP John Makali Challenges Youths to Take Advantage Of Digital Opportunities

has called on students to reject drug abuse and instead harness the digital space to enhance their prospects.

Speaking during a bursary distribution event at Kibabii University, Makali challenged the youth to take full advantage of digital opportunities, emphasizing that they are the future leaders of the country.

He further noted that many people are benefiting significantly from digital platforms and urged students to follow suit.

This is your time to seize opportunities and do great things,” he said, cautioning against misusing social media and encouraging students to seek positive alternatives to contribute to the nation’s development.

Amount allocated for education from Kanduyi NG-CDF

The MP also underscored that education is a primary agenda for the youth. The Kanduyi Constituency Development Fund (CDF) has allocated Ksh 52 million to promote education.

Approximately 2,000 tertiary students from eight wards will each receive 10,000 shillings.

Makali highlighted that the selection process for beneficiaries was carried out at the grassroots level, ensuring that it was transparent and involved public participation.

Kibabii University received 223 slots, amounting to 2,230,000 shillings. Among the other institutions that also benefitted from this initiative are students from Maseno University, Masinde Muliro University, and Bungoma National Polytechnic.

Furthermore, Makali urged young people to take advantage of government programs such as Ajira, youth empowerment initiatives, and NYOTA to secure grants that could boost their businesses.

He expressed concern over the low uptake of loans and grants from the government, encouraging young people to actively engage with these opportunities.

The MP also emphasized the importance of supporting government initiatives by rallying behind local leaders who are committed to transforming the country’s economy.

Meanwhile, the legislator urged the youth to register for Identification Cards, which is free of charge following a directive from the government, as a critical step toward accessing various services and opportunities.
