Transport within Eldoret City will be temporarily disrupted on Sunday, September 29, 2024.
A notice from the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) indicates that the disruption is due to an event that will be staged at the city centre.
The event is the fourth edition of the National Media Group’s Live Watch Party of Berlin Marathon, 2024.
“The Kenya National Highways Authority wishes to notify the public of a temporary closure of Uganda Road along A8 Road within Eldoret City Centre on Sunday Seoye629, 2024,” read part of the notice.
According to KeNHA, the disruption will be from 12.00 am to 2.00 pm.
The agency has however provided an alternative route for motorists in a move that seeks to minimise traffic disruption during the event.
During the said period, KeNHA has advised Public Service Vehicles (PSVs) to use the entrance via Moi Girls School, through Unga Road and exit at Central Bank to rejoin A8 Highway.
“Heavy Commercial Vehicles to use Eldoret Bypass from Cheplaskei through Kapseret and rejoin A8 Highway at Maili Tisa,” KeNHA said.
It also advised motorists to adhere to and follow traffic signs and guidance that will be in place and as shall be directed by Traffic Marshals and police on site.
“The authority remains committed to ensure seamless connectivity to facilitate safe passage for economic growth,” it added.
The NMG Live Watch Party will enable Eldoret locals follow live proceedings of this year’s Berlin Marathon.
