Businesses at Kuinet Trading Centre on the outskirts of Eldoret town are set to receive a major boost following the commissioning of street lights around the area.
Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago presided over the commissioning of the project that will also see security within the center also improved.
Speaking during the event, Mandago said the street lighting project will directly help improve the income of the traders at the center located along the Eldoret-Ziwa road, as they will now be able to work for longer hours.

The county boss noted that since his administration ascended to power in 2013, it has been able to increase lighting connectivity both in rural and urban areas with over 1, 400 LED Street Lights installed across the county so far.
“6,404 LED street lights have been installed, besides, 30No High Mast floodlights, 32No (15m) floodlights, and 256No solar lighting spread across the county having been installed.”

Mandago further pointed out that the County Government of Uasin Gishu is targeting to install at least 9,004 LED Street Lights by end of 2022, as envisioned in the 2018-2022 Uasin Gishu County Integrated Development Plan(CIDP).
