The Kenya Society of the Blind and Charity Vision Kenya has partnered with the County Government of Elgeyo Marakwet to equip an eye unit at the Iten County Referral Hospital.
The partnership will also enable the unit conduct eye surgeries and operation.
In the arrangement, patients with eye problems will be able to obtain their eye glasses in the facility at an affordable cost at the optical shop at the eye unit that will be established at the facility.

“The team will also have a week long surgical camp at ICRH Ophthalmology unit from 25th to 29th September 2023,” Elgeyo Marakwet Governor Wisely Rotich said.
The Governor further said shall be signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the organisations on September 4th, 2023.
A team from the two organizations – Kenya Society of the Blind and Charity Vision Kenya – recently visited the Iten Eye Unit ahead of the MoU signing.
Health Chief Officer Jeremiah Chirchir represented the county during the visit while Olivia Edebe and James Kago represented Charity Vision and Kenya Society for the Blind respectively.

“We are open to all partners,” declared the county boss.
The Iten Eye Unit was established courtesy of a partnership between the County and Operation Eyesight.
The new partnership is set to further enhance access to eye medical services for locals within the county.
