Moi University has officially announced the date for its 46th Graduation Ceremony. The announcement comes at a time learning at the Uasin Gishu-based institution is crippled due to the ongoing lecturers’ strike.
In a notice posted on its website, the university said the graduation will take place on Thursday, December 19, 2024.
“Moi University wishes to inform all candidates who qualify for the conferment of various degrees and award of diplomas at the end of the last academic year 2023/2024 that the 46th graduation ceremony will be held on Thursday, December 19th 2024,” read part of the notice.
It was signed by Moi University Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics, Research, Extension & Student Affairs) Prof I.N Kimengi.
In addition, the university outlined the steps that graduands need to complete to qualify for graduation.
All candidates are required to confirm their academic results with their respective Deans of Schools, verify the spelling and order of their full names as they appear in their admission records, and ensure that any pending fees or other financial obligations are cleared.
Graduands have until November 19, 2024, to meet these requirements to secure their place in the graduation list and booklet.
The notice further advised candidates to visit the university’s official website for additional information and updates regarding the graduation process.
Learning at Moi University was suspended over a month ago following a prolonged industrial action.
The university last week announced the re-opening of the institution but the striking staff insisted that they will not resume work until when their demands will be fully met.

Among the demands include clearing their salary arrears and remitting their statutory deductions. It is estimated that Moi University needs at least Ksh 8 billion to meet the workers’ demands.
