Moisoy Set To Start Aggregating Maize As Harvesting Begin

The County’s quest of operationalizing Moisoy maize milling plant on Tuesday realized a positive trajectory following a meeting between Trade, Industrialization, Tourism, Cooperatives and Enterprise Development CECM Martha Cheruto and the Union’s board.

According to CECM Cheruto, there was need to deliberate on possible avenues for the delivery of the project to begin its major role of aggregation and value addition.

The Governor is looking forward for the delivery of the project with an intension of cushioning farmers from post harvest loses especially during this time when the weather man has predicted possible Elnino rains,” reiterated Cheruto

Cheruto also said there was need to have the silos up and running for the receipting system to take effect noting that the contractor has to work with speed to see the completion of the pending works complete to pave way for aggregation

Union’s chairman Moses Tenai said:”We have a firm commitment from the board to ensure that the project register success. We have to help our leaders to achieve their mandates and by doing so we will also achieving our goals as entities”

To enhance patronage, the union is continuously mobilizing member farmers to increase their shares,” poised Tenai

Already the union has a number of partners and various investors who are also interested in completion and operationalization of the project.

The Union which was formed through the coming together of 58 primary cooperative societies from Moiben and Soy Sub counties is projecting to begin collection of maize from November 1, 2023.

Cooperative Commissioner Roselyne Rae, Deputy Director Audit CPA Samuel Wambugu and Principal Credit officer Domtillah Birgen were present.
