Mung’o Dispensary in Elgeyo Marakwet Upgraded

Elgeyo Marakwet County’s Department of Health and Sanitation on Monday, June 20, 2022, upgraded the Mung’o dispensary to a health center.

This is a result of increased workload in the facility following key improvements that have been done in the dispensary.

During the visit, the County Chief Officer of Health and Sanitation Mary Kipchumba delivered assorted equipment that is critical to the new status of the facility.

Some of the equipment delivered at the newly upgraded Mung’o Health Centre.

This includes key maternity equipment (delivery bed, hospital beds, baby warmer, screens and incubator) and lab equipment that includes a full hemogram machine, centrifuge, and a microscope.

These pieces of equipment are worth over Ksh5 million.

Speaking during the function that included the opening of the maternity, the Chief Officer urged the residents to make use of the facility and also enroll in the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) so as to benefit from the various packages.

During the function, residents benefited from the free screening for diabetes, hypertension, cervix cancer, Tuberculosis (TB), and HIV.

Treatment of various ailments was also done.

Other staff in attendance included Acting Director Medical Services Dr. Kosgei, Marakwet East Sub County Director in the Ministry of Health (MOH) John Teimet, and other health staff.
