In a move to boost its tourism potential, the County Government of Nandi has officially launched a comprehensive program to identify and digitally map all its tourist sites and cultural experiences.
Known as the National Tourism Products and Experiences Mapping Programme, the initiative was launched on Friday, November 21, 2025, during an entry meeting convened by the State Department of Tourism and Wildlife in collaboration with the County Government of Nandi.
The event brought together a wide range of stakeholders, including technical officers from the county’s tourism department, local tourism operators, and community representatives.

Launch of the program marks the start of a joint plan to systematically document the county’s diverse offerings, from its scenic landscapes and historical sites to its unique cultural practices.
The goal is to create a detailed digital inventory that will make these attractions more visible and accessible to tourists worldwide.
This collaborative effort is a key part of Kenya’s broader national tourism strategy.
The strategy focuses on developing heritage trails and tourism products through partnerships between national and county governments and local communities.

A central tenet of the initiative is to ensure that the growth of the tourism sector delivers tangible benefits to residents. By formally integrating community representatives as well as local operators, the program aims to create a tourism model that is both sustainable and inclusive.
The project promises to unlock new opportunities for the region, positioning Nandi County as a must-visit destination on Kenya’s tourism map.
