Nandi County to Host 2024 International Tea Day Celebrations

The County Government of Nandi has been selected by the Tea Board of Kenya and other key industry players in the Tea Sector to host this year’s International Tea Day on the 21st of May 2024.

International Tea Day (ITD) is observed annually to celebrate the cultural as well ss economic significance of tea.

The day also aims to promote and raise awareness about the diverse aspects of tea, including its history, production, consumption and health benefits.

This year’s ITD will serve as a platform to highlight the significance of tea in our daily lives, promote sustainable practices in the tea industry and appreciate the cultural diversity associated with this beloved beverage.

Further, it is a time to reflect on the importance of tea as a global phenomenon and to enjoy and share the experience of tea with others.

Nandi Deputy Governor Nandi Dr. Yulita Chebotip Cheruiyot in company of CECM for Agriculture and Co-operatives Development Dr. Kiplimo Araap Lagat led the county in launching of the #ITD2024 at Nandi Bears Club and thereafter an activation drive at Nandi Hills Town.

Speaking at the function, the DG welcomed all stakeholders from far and wide to “come and experience the rich tea ecosystem in our county explore possible areas of investments, collaboration as well as partnership.”

Among the activities lined up for the celebrations include Youth Tea Recipe Challenge, Activations, Field Day, Race and the Business Forum on the climax day.Nandi County to Host 2024 International Tea Day Celebrations.
