Natembeya Reshuffles His Cabinet Again

Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya on Friday, November 10, 2023, made yet another significant change in his cabinet, reshuffling key positions.

County Secretary Truphosa Amere secured a prominent role as the Health Chief Executive Committee Member (CECM).

In the restructuring, Janerose Mutama, formerly the Lands CECM, has been reassigned as the new County Secretary.

Patrick Gacheru, who held the Water and Environment portfolio, now assumes the Trade department, while Stanley Kirui takes charge of Education and Technical Training.

Dr. Pepela Wanjala has transitioned to the coveted Finance department from the Health docket. Boniface Wanyonyi, previously in Finance, will now oversee Lands, Housing, and Urban Development.

Samson Ojwang, of the Education Department, is the new CECM for Water and Environment.

Changes for Chief Officers

Governor Natembeya also instituted changes in chief officer positions.

Sammy Sichangi, formerly in the Governance position, now serves in Agriculture, with Dr Emmanuel Wanjala of Health taking over the vacated Governance role.

Patrick Osoro of Lands has been appointed as the chief officer for Livestock and Cooperative Development.

Emmanuel Masungo, previously in Economic Planning, has been reassigned to Essential Finance, while Ashton Mulupi has been deployed to Education and Technical Training. Omari Ndiema, formerly in Agriculture, now assumes the role of chief officer in Economic Planning.

Further, Dr Judith Simiyu has been transferred from Corporate Health Services to Health Services and Sanitation, and Joseph Wasike has been appointed as the new chief officer for Roads and Transport.

Agriculture CECM Phanice Khatundi, her Public Woks counterpart Jackson Amboka and PSM’s Julia Ruto have retained their positions.

A down-to-earth Philip Kapten and Dorothy Nyukuri will continue service as PSM and water chief officers.

In a notice sent to the County’s Public Communications and the Governor’s press services, the changes take effect immediately.

The new changes come barely three months after a first cabinet reshuffle that affected a number of CECMs, some of whom have been moved again.
