Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri has said that the Bottom Up economic model is the solution to the financial challenges Kenya is currently facing.
The model is being popularized by Deputy President William Ruto who is seeking to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Speaking in Eldoret town on Friday, ahead of a mega rally that will be graced by the DP, the MP said many are opposed to the Bottom Up agenda because they don’t know its benefits.
He mentioned economic empowerment to low-income earners as one of the benefits that will also trickle up to boosting Kenya’s on source income.
“Among over 47 million people, only 6.5 million pay taxes, but with the economic model, more Kenyans will start paying tax. This means we will reduce tax pressure on a few individuals as we also cut down on the borrowing to fund our development projects,” said the Rift Valley UDA coordinator.
“Bottom-up is very sweet. Once you understand it, I tell you you can walk naked,” he added.
The MP also expressed confidence that the second in command will turn around the country’s economic fortunes.
“No one has better ideas than Ruto. He is capable of reviving our economy,” he said.

During the Eldoret rally, DP Ruto is expected to explain to the locals in detail what the Bottom Up economy is all about.
Over 90 legislators and at least 50,000 people are expected to attend the rally that will be held at the Eldoret Sports Club Grounds.
And the Bahati MP says after the Eldoret rally, Uasin Gishu and North Rift leaders should allow Ruto to look for votes in other places.
“Whatever issues might be happening locally, we ask that you do not involve Ruto in them,” noted Kimani Ngunjiri.
