MP Sudi at a past press briefing.

Oscar Sudi: I Speak English Only When Handling Deals Worth Over Ksh5 Million

Oscar Sudi is among political leaders in the country that are hated and loved with almost the same measure by Kenyans.

Most of this love-hate relationship is usually evident on Social media, where the Member of Parliament enjoys a massive following.

The vocal MP is known for being a straight-speaking politician who never beats around the bush when he has something to say.

He has for the past few years come out as a strong defender of Deputy President William Ruto, hitting out at the DP’s critics during public rallies, press conferences, and random videos he posts on his social media pages.

Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi.

While doing all these, one thing has always been synonymous – he rarely speaks English.

His speeches/press conferences and videos are usually in Swahili, with some few English words once in a while.

Oscar Sudi’s use of too much Swahili, at least to the social media users – is an indication that he does not know how to speak English.

Well, if you’re among the guys who thought the Kapseret MP doesn’t know how to speak English – you were wrong.

According to the vocal legislator, his English is preserved for special occasions.

Speaking recently at Kapsang, in Soy Sub County, during the burial of Mzee Wilson Kimaru – father to Uasin Gishu gubernatorial aspirant Jonathan Bii, Sudi said he only speaks English when handling business deals of at least Ksh5 million.

Wengine wanasema eti sijui kuongea Kiingereza….Kiingereza yangu sio ya kuongelea pesa kidogo. Leta biashara ya millioni tano kuenda juu usikie vile nacharaza Kiingereza,” the legislator said.

“Hata saa hizi naenda mkutano ya Zoom, kwani mnafikiri nitaongea lugha gani huko,” he added.

The MP is facing charges of claims that he used fake academic papers when seeking the nomination in 2013. The case is still pending at Nakuru court.

During the highly publicized hearing of the case mid-2021, Sudi hit out at individuals that were trolling him for being in possession of fake academic papers.

At one point he said that individuals with degrees and the ‘so-called’ academic papers cannot do half of what he achieved even ‘without papers’ as many perceive.

“It would take some people with undergraduate and master’s degrees 300 years to achieve what I’ve been able to accomplish so far,” the MP posted on Twitter.
