Police officers in Kajiado County have launched a manhunt for armed robbers who were captured on CCTV robbing a lady in Ongata Rongai.
In a viral video that has been doing rounds on Social Media, a lady driver was waylaid and accosted by armed robbers in Ongata Rongai as she entered her compound at night.
The armed thugs, while brandishing an AK-47 rifle, physically assaulted the victim and vandalized her property in a 2.00 am incident.
They also stole valuable household items from her residence.
In a statement issued on June 13, 2022, the National Police Service (NPS) said an investigation into the violent crime had commenced.
“The National Police Service has taken note of a cruel incident where a lady driver was waylaid and accosted by armed robbers in Ongata Rongai as she entered her compound at night,” read part of the statement.
“While we strongly condemn this incident, we would like to assure the public that the National Police Service’ officers in Kajiado are working round the clock to bring the culprits to book. Our sympathies go out to the innocent lady, her family and friends,” the police added.
NPS also affirmed their commitment to continue to partnering with the public under the Community Policing Initiative, in order to enhance the security and safety of neighbourhoods while providing an enabling environment for information sharing based on trust.
