Saboti Constituency Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi has called on President William Ruto to relieve Defence Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale of his duties.
Speaking in the Muungano area of Kiminini Constituency in Trans Nzoia County during the burial of Major David Nato Micha, Amisi said Duale is incompetent to handle the sensitive Defence docket.
The legislator who is also a member of the Defence and Foreign Relations Committee in the National Assembly said the recent attacks on KDF soldiers are a pointer that the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country is under threat.
“We are getting worried and concerned with what is happening. Al-Shabaab attacks are on the rise. We are asking ourselves is it because of the CS or what is not happening,” Amisi said.

“Terrorism attacks had drastically gone down when we had Eugene at the helm of the Defence ministry,” he added.
The second-term MP re-elected on an ODM ticket in 2022 further said his committee will summon Duale this week to explain why Al-Shabaab attacks are getting out of hand.
Major Micha is one of two Kenya Defence Forces officers who were killed when they responded to an attack on a General Service Unit (GSU) team in Lamu on 18 June 2023.
In the attack, 20 other officers were injured 12 of who were GSU officers while the rest were KDF soldiers.
The attacks came at a time when there are ongoing plans by the government to withdraw KDF troops from Somalia where they have been fighting Al-Shabaab since October 2011.
Kenyan troops are in Somalia under African Union Transition Mission (ATMIS).
