Safaricom has announced a revamped 5G for Business to provide SMEs with faster, more reliable connectivity that supports their growing digital needs, such as real-time collaboration, seamless online transactions, and remote operations.
The announcement was made at the ‘Grow with Safaricom Business’ Western Kenya edition, a platform that aims to equip SMEs with the knowledge that will enable them to scale their businesses through technology. The Western Kenya edition is part of the Sambaza Furaha na Safaricom Caravan.

The upgraded 5G for Business will deliver speeds that are five times higher and aims to improve customer experience.
“The new 5G for Business will ensure that SMEs can access enterprise-grade internet performance without stretching their budgets. This will empower them to enhance productivity, improve customer interactions, and scale operations efficiently in today’s increasingly connected marketplace,” said Peter Ndegwa, CEO, Safaricom PLC.
Additionally, there will be an offer from 29th November to 31st December 2024 where businesses that sign up for the 5G plan will get 25% off all 5G plans.
According to the Kenya Institute of Public Policy, Research and Analysis, there are over 7.4 million MSMEs, employing approximately 14.9 million Kenyans in various sectors of the economy, generating 30% of the GDP.
