The immediate former Kenyan ambassador to China Sarah Serem will this Friday be hosting a homecoming ceremony at her rural home.
Serem, a former Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) chairperson says the homecoming will be held on February 11, 2022, at Kapseret.
The event will be used to signal her official start to the gubernatorial campaign.
“The countdown begins! One day to go! The Great Homecoming. 11th Feb 2022. From 0900hrs. Earthquake ya Uasingishu! Na bado! Karibuni Nyumbani Kapseret,” Amb. Sarah Serem posted on her official Facebook page.
It is only recently that she returned to the country from China.
Amb. Serem is hoping to change the Uasin Gishu gubernatorial contest through her candidature.
She is pledging to build the county’s brand and identity as well as develop the value-chain in local products and create wealth opportunities for the youth.
“There is enough market and limitless opportunities that we must tap on to create wealth in Uasin Gishu. Coffee, Avocado, passion fruits, vegetables, and flowers just to mention a few,” notes Amb. Serem.
She has also signaled her willingness to continue championing diversification among farmers – one of the key areas that the Governor Jackson Mandago administration has been focusing on.
“My people, let us diversify agriculture and put money into our pockets. Coffee made in Uasingishu is a dream that will come to pass. Tuanze kupanda kahawa kwa wingi,” she notes.
Under her leadership, the former SRC boss says she will seek to introduce locally produced coffee in major malls, airports, and railway stations, “as millions of people pass through these outlets daily”.
This, Amb. Serem says, will guarantee a consistent and sustainable outflow of products.
With her homecoming, the former envoy is now expected to kick off her campaigns, as she seeks to win the UDA ticket for the gubernatorial contest.
