SHA Tests National Ambulance Dispatch Centre Ahead of Launch

The Social Health Authority (SHA) has intensified preparations for the rollout of the National Ambulance Dispatch Centre, a first-of-its-kind emergency response system in the region.

The centre, fully integrated into the Digital Health Agency, will operate through a single toll-free number to coordinate emergency ambulance dispatch across the country.

On Thursday, July 2, 2026, SHA headquarters hosted live simulations and emergency response drills to test the system ahead of its launch.

The exercises also trained newly recruited Customer Experience and Dispatch Centre staff who will oversee emergency call handling and ambulance coordination.

The drills brought together communication, customer experience and emergency response teams led by Deputy Director of Corporate Communication Dr. Jacob Mutinda, Assistant Director Winfred Nduku, Assistant Director of Customer Experience Brian Mugambi and Principal Officer Christine Muli.

They were supported by paramedics from E-Plus Medical Services from the Kenya Red Cross and a Safaricom technical team led by Program Manager Tabitha Mutunga.
