FKF Women Division One Zone B title contenders outsmarted their opponents over the weekend each side showing its strength on the scoresheet.
Second in the log, Kisped Queens, domesticated their hosts Rongai Eaglets by a convincing 4-0 win in Nakuru county. Lilian Adera’s brace and a goal each by Desma Nyawade and Dorothy Ayuga were all the visitors needed to push through the title chase.
Top-of-the-table Gideon’s Starlets added a hip of goals in their pile by hammering Gusii Starlets 7-1 away to keep on one point ahead of Kisped. With a game in hand, Kisped now closely has 48 points after 21 matches while Gideon’s are at 49 points after 22 games.
Vihiga Leeds was dented 2-0 by the Kitale-based side Royal Starlets. An early strike from Tacy Olembo kept the host hopeful of an equalizer but Faith Chemwor’s late goal sank all the hopes of the relegation-threatened side from salvaging anything.

At Sang’alo Technical Training Institute, Bungoma Queens had a field day crashing Gene Queens 4-1 in a must-win match for the hosts. Gene who had lost to Royal Starlets 1-0 in the midweek fixture had hoped to register a better result to step away from the eighth position but their hosts were hungry for maximum points.
Bungoma Queens now are third in the log with 45 points from 21 matches while Gene will stay at eighth position with 27 points for another game week.
Fight to remain in the league
In another mid-table clash played at the Eldoret ASK showground, Solasa Stima Queens thrashed Kolwa Falcons 4-0. Johnson Kimungui’s coached side was cruel to their visitors with three quick goals in the first half before a late stunner at the stoppage time.
Speaking exclusively to the Uasin Gishu News sports desk, Kimungui said that he was on his journey to retain his position in the league.

“As I had noted in the midweek interview, my desire is to collect at least four wins from the remaining six matches, happily I have got one today and I’m preparing for the next one,” he said.
Solasa is ninth in the table standings with 21 points from 19 matches and Kimungui is hopeful of giving the league leaders a run for their money in their next fixture.
“We are taking a match at a time, each game with a different strategy but with the same mentality of not conceding but capitalizing on our attacks,” he added.
Squad state
On his side, Kolwa Falcons head coach Zack Odida regretted the loss attributing inconsistency of results to the poor state of his squad.
“We are having lots of challenges majorly financial challenges, some of our players are nursing injuries and that has really affected our squad cohesion,” he said.

Odida also called upon well-wishers to come on to support women’s football which is wading of murky waters of financial strains.
“I’m still appealing to football lovers out there as well as well-wishers to support us, we are struggling with debts every weekend to honour matches and to support these talents,” he said.
The Kisumu-based side is in sixth position with 31 points from 22 matches.
