SNV and the County Government of Uasin Gishu have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that formalises the deep and long-standing partnership.
This strategic agreement sets out a framework for collaboration aimed at promoting inclusive entrepreneurship, regenerative agriculture, and the productive use of renewable energy, while creating opportunities for women and youth.
SNV-Uasin Gishu MoU: Partnership built on shared vision
SNV has worked together with the County Government of Uasin Gishu County to implement programmes that have transformed livelihoods and strengthened local systems.
These include:
- Investing in Young Businesses in Africa – Supporting Entrepreneurship Ecosystem Development (IYBA-SEED), which has supported youth and women-led enterprises and strengthened entrepreneurial ecosystems.
- Regenerative Agricultural Practices for Improved Livelihoods and Markets (REALMS), which reached over 8,000 smallholder farmers with regenerative agriculture technologies.
- Power For Food Partnership, launched in 2025, which focuses on integrating regenerative agriculture and renewable energy to drive inclusive investments and local leadership.
The MoU provides a structured approach for joint planning, implementation, and monitoring of future projects, ensuring alignment with SNV’s mission and the county’s development priorities.

It also puts emphasis on the importance of partnerships in addressing systemic challenges and creating sustainable solutions for communities.
Rebecca Hallam, Country Director for SNV in Kenya and Burundi, said: “This MoUis a commitment to shared progress. By working together, we can leverage resources, knowledge, and networks to create lasting impact for the people of Uasin Gishu. Our collaboration reflects a shared belief in inclusive development.”
How SNV is driving inclusive and sustainable change
Through this partnership, SNV and Uasin Gishu County will work to promote inclusive entrepreneurship, promote regenerative agriculture, and enhance the productive use of renewable energy. This partnership will strengthen policy frameworks that attract investment, create enabling environments for farmers and MSMEs, and ensure that women and youth are at the centre of economic transformation.
Governor Jonathan Bii Chelilim said the initiative will impact over 1,200 smallholder farmers, create green jobs, expand market access, and link to the Fanikisha Hustle program.

“Through this collaboration, young entrepreneurs will gain skills, mentorship, and access to renewable energy solutions, enabling them to grow their businesses sustainably,” he added.
