Trans Nzoia County Governor George Natembeya on Friday presided over the graduation of 247 students from a comprehensive Digital and Entrepreneurial Skills Program.
The program was designed to equip students with the skills needed to navigate the increasingly digital landscape of the world.
“Technology is the gateway to success in the contemporary era,” Natembeya said. “I am committed to ensuring that the youth of this region are adequately prepared for this dynamic digital environmen,” the governor said.
Speaking at the event, Natembeya also urged the graduates to harness their newfound skills to venture into agribusiness and leverage digital platforms to expand their businesses globally.
“Trans Nzoia County is primarily an agricultural community,” he said. “The integration of technology can greatly enhance agricultural productivity and global market reach.”
The governor also announced that the county is taking strides towards digitizing its services, a move aimed at enhancing accessibility while contributing to environmental conservation.
“We have recently transitioned to paperless meetings,” he said adding that “This reflects our dedication to sustainable practices.”
Natembeya further thanked partnering organizations, including Huawei and Computers for School – Kenya, for their role in equipping the youth with these essential skills.
“I am grateful for your support,” he said. “You are helping to create a brighter future for our youth.”
Be vigilant during El-Nino
In a separate note, the county boss called upon all residents to remain vigilant and report any cases of the impending El Nino rains to the county’s command center for swift response.

Moreover, the governor lauded the Trans Nzoia Digi Truck of 2023 for their diligence and dedication.
“I have faith in your potential to significantly contribute to the county’s economy,” he said. “You represent 247 opportunities for business growth, wealth creation, and self-actualization.”
