How many liquor businesses in Uasin Gishu have applied for licensing?

There were 1,012 applications, with Turbo Sub-County leading the pack, closely followed by Moiben.

Maiyo emphasised the need for a coordinated, multi-agency approach, calling on stakeholders to uphold teamwork and strictly adhere to the inspection checklist developed for each liquor premise.

This process is not just about issuing licenses—it’s about protecting our communities, ensuring accountability, and promoting responsible alcohol consumption,” said Maiyo.

Director of Promotive and Preventive Services, Laban Kiprop, underscored the importance of complementing the enforcement exercise with youth mentorship and public health education. He urged that mentorship sessions be held to educate young people on the dangers of alcohol abuse and called for fairness and professionalism during surveillance and inspection operations.

All premises must be properly licensed, and inspections must be conducted transparently at the relevant sites,” Kiprop stated, adding that surveyors will play a crucial role in verifying the suitability of premises.
