Uasin Gishu County Fire Brigade have retrieved the body of a 33-year-old man who drowned while bathing in a dam at Nandet farm in Kapchebii village, Cheptiret -Kipchamo Ward, Kesses Sub County, Monday.
According to the area assistant chief Truphena Rugut, the man identified as Protas Marindich, a father of two, was taking a bath at the dam when he slid and drowned on Sunday.
Uasin Gishu County Chief Fire Officer David Sitati said the county emergency response team was contacted for assistance and managed to recover the body in the private dam on Monday, April 14, 2025.
Sitati urged residents to avoid areas around dams and swampy places during this rainy season.
The body of the young man has since been moved by Cheptiret police officers to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary for preservation.
