The County Government of Uasin Gishu through the Department of Roads, Transport and Public Works has moved to enhance the involvement of all stakeholders during the implementation of road projects across the county.
Speaking during an inaugural meeting, new Roads Director, Engineer Julius Ronoh, told engineers, inspectors and surveyors that it is now mandatory to incorporate the inputs of Members of the County Assembly, residents and all stakeholders at the Ward level before and during the implementation of the projects.

“For us to be effective, we should have accurate reports on the status of projects, we have to put all stakeholders in place, and we need to have MCAs and other stakeholders in this game. Proper reporting and documentation are key. Know your numbers and let’s ensure we capture details correctly and report in good time,” Eng Ronoh advised.
He also tasked the team to be strict on project management and give information about projects under implementation and on progress in good time to avoid unnecessary delays by contractors who don’t adhere to agreed timelines.

“Our key mandate is to serve residents of Uasin Gishu diligently and ensure all promises by Governor Jonathan Bii are fulfilled. We can only achieve this through teamwork. Our department was ranked among the best nationally, let us keep it up by doing quality work,” he noted.

On his part, the outgoing acting director Eng. Linus Yego assured that the team will continue working together unconditionally for the betterment of the people of Uasin Gishu and the realisation of the Nguzo number 6 of Governor Bii on infrastructure development.

The Department is in the process of implementing various road projects to meet the Governor’s target of 1,200 kilometres of grading and 400 kilometres of gravelling of roads in Uasin Gishu.
Among those present during the meeting was the Human Resource officer for the department Stella Birech who encouraged the team to continue working as a team.
