University of Eldoret, Young Bullets Register Wins in FKF Women’s Cup (Results)

Two Eldoret-based women’s football teams have booked their place in the next round of the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Women’s Cup.

This is after they emerged victorious in the preliminary round played over the weekend.

On Saturday, the University of Eldoret (UoE) ladies’ team silenced Kakuma Kalobeyei 2-0 in a game staged at the Eldoret Show Ground.

Another Eldoret-based team Young Bullets also registered a 2-0 win against Nakuru’s Egerton FC at the same venue.

In the other match at the venue, Kapsabet Starlets also came out victorious against the Mount Kenya University team. They won the game 2-0.

In matches played on Sunday, Gusii narrowly edged out Migori Educational Centre  2-1 in a tightly contested game played at the Migori Educational Centre grounds.

Viker Queens silenced hosts Bomet Starlets 3-0 at Bomet Stadium while Dero Divas were whitewashed 5-1 by Nyanza-based Kolwa Falcons.

The FKF Women’s Super Cup has 42 teams.

10 FKF Women Premier League clubs, 19 FKF Women Division One clubs, and 13 FKF  Women Regional/County clubs signed up for the cup competition.

The preliminary round kicked off on February 18, 2023, involving teams from the regional leagues and all Division One teams that are lower than the 5th position from both zones in the league standings as of January 22, 2023.

Further, the FKF Women’s Cup participants from FKF Women league clubs and the top five FKF Women Division One clubs from each zone in the league standings did not participate in the preliminary round.

Meanwhile, the draw for the round of 32 is scheduled for February 22, 2023, with the games expected to be played on March 18, 2023.

The round of 16 actions will get underway on April 15, 2023, before the quarterfinal games begin on May 20, 2023.

Semi-finals for the FKF Women’s Super Cup have been scheduled for June 24, 2023.

The final will be staged on July 2, 2023.
