Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii says that the county has a huge percentage of skilled youth that can drive the manufacturing and textile industries.

Upon Eldoret town being declared a city, major investments will sprout thus enabling them an opportunity to put their skills into practice,” Bii added.

He spoke Monday, February 20, 2023, while touring Ken Knit to assess the state of preparedness for the value chain from production to export.

Bii urged more investors to invest in the county’s soil reiterating his administration’s provision of a conducive environment for the development of new industries.

The visit comes as his administration works on several other investment areas as enshrined in his Nguzo Kumi Plan such as positioning the county as an industrial hub and establishing economic partnerships.

Ken Knit is known for manufacturing blankets and other textile products.

Eldoret town will soon have sufficient water for residents, public facilities, and industries,” noted The Governor.

The County has effected the establishment of a  one-stop- shop that makes it easier for traders and investors to have their permit requirements and even a unified invoice at a centralized point to reduce time spend while looking for various approvals.

County Executive Committee Members for Trade, Industrialization, Cooperative and Enterprise Martha Cheruto, Edward Sawe (Agriculture), and Eng Lucy Ngendo(Sports) accompanied the county boss during the visit.
