West Pokot: Transition Committee Ready for Governor Swearing-In

Arrangements for the assumption of office for West Pokot County Governor-Elect Simon Kachapin and Deputy Governor Robert Komole are in top gear.

This is as the committee overseeing the exercise puts final touches on the assumption process in line with The Assumption of The Office of Governor Act, 2019.

Led by County Secretary John Karamunya, the 13-member committee has identified the Kishaunet showground as the venue for the ceremony to be held on Thursday, August 25th, 2022.

And CS Karamunya said the assumption of the office committee is on course to ensure a smooth transition by facilitating the handing-over process.

According to the Assumption of the Office of Governor Act, elected governors should be sworn in on the first Thursday after the tenth day following the declaration of the final results by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

Also, members of the committee include the respective County Commissioner, a representative of the National Police Service (NPS), a National Intelligence Service (NIS) representative, Chief Officers Finance and Planning, Public Service Management and Information Communication Technology (PSM & ICT), Tourism and Culture, a representative from County Assembly and two representatives nominated by the governor-elect.
