A woman has been arraigned before an Eldoret court charged with throwing her underwear at a neighbor’s compound.
The woman identified as Naomi Njeri while appearing before the Eldoret Chief Magistrate Dennis Mikoyan pleaded guilty to the charge.
Njeri, 30, is accused of throwing her underwear at Susan Wambui’s compound in Bahati estate on the outskirts of Eldoret town causing a disturbance that would have led to the breach of peace contrary to Section 95 of the Penal Code.
According to the prosecution, the incident is said to have happed on October 18, 2021.
The court was told that when the accused was called by the neighbor to collect her underwear, she turned up armed with a machete and threatened to chop the complainant into pieces for what she said was shaming her after she allegedly told the whole village about the incident.
While defending herself, Njeri said she turned up with a machete for her own safety, after the complainant and her husband threatened to assault her.
She said she had no ill motives over the incident and apologized before the court.
The court ordered that the accused be detained for three weeks pending a probation report that would determine if she would qualify for a non-custodial sentence.
The hearing for the case has been set for November 15, 2021.
