The Eldoret National Polytechnic has new students leaders.
The new leaders were sworn into office on Friday, October 18, 2024, to replace three positions left vacant following a successful impeachment against them.
A section of students filed a motion to oust The Eldoret National Polytechnic Student Union chairman Victor Kiplagat, Cabinet Secretary for Finance Florence Imondo and Secretary General Sam Omondi.
The three were accused of misuse of office among other allegations, with the impeachment succeeding.
They were replaced by Elijah Shollei who is the new chairman, Eugene Biketi (Cabinet Secretary for Finance) and Philemon Kipruto for the Education docket.
Speaking after the swearing in, the new chairperson asked students to work closely with the student union officials to ensure their concerns are addressed promptly.
“This is a national polytechnic and my mission is to ensure that this polytechnic has a national picture. To my fellow comrades, please have confidence in us. Talk to us, our offices are always open,” said Shollei.
Before the impeachment of his predecessor, Shollei served as deputy chairman of TENPSU while the new Finance CS was the Entertainment head.
Meanwhile, Biketi assured students that they will work openly for their interests.
“We won’t work like those who came before us,” he assured.
In addition, the new Secretary General who was serving as the Education Cabinet Secretary vowed to uphold Eldoret National Polytechnic’s constitution.
Chief Principal Dr Charles Koech was present during the swearing in ceremony.
He challenged the new leaders to work and serve the students diligently.
