Amb. Julius Bitok 6 Agendas for Uasin Gishu

Amb. Prof. Julius Bitok is among a host of politicians eyeing to succeed Governor Jackson Mandago in the upcoming poll.

Just like other aspirants, Prof. Bitok has his areas of priority that he intends to implement, should he be given the opportunity, by the voters.

The former Moi University lecturer has listed 6 agendas he is pledging for the people of Uasin Gishu.

We take a brief look at them;

Agriculture

Under this agenda, Prof. Bitok seeks to among others establish a subsidy program for farm inputs, set up cold storage facilities and cereal stores to minimize post-harvest loss, and establishment of value addition factories to process maize, wheat, and milk.

He also plans to enhance the marketing of produce locally regionally and internationally.

For the support of livestock farming, Dr. Julius Bitok will be seeking to subsidize acaricides and livestock drugs – with an aim of combating animal diseases and pests.

The Uasin Gishu gubernatorial aspirant has also committed to completing the construction of milk coolers to enhance value addition in the dairy sector.

Job Creation, Education, and Talent Empowerment

This is basically an area that focuses on youth empowerment with Amb. Bitok pledging to a job placement directorate that will scout for opportunities both locally and globally.

He will also be focusing on enhancing access to online jobs through the establishment of at least an ICT center in each ward.

The County Government of Uasin Gishu under the leadership of Amb. Bitok will also seek to attract and retain investors to set up investments that can create jobs for the youths.

Supporting youths to study abroad through a subsidized fee program is another area of focus, as well as a promise of doubling county bursary fund kitty to benefit more vulnerable learners.

With Uasin Gishu boasting of many international athletes, Prof Bitok plans to invest in talent development of the youth in sports through the construction of stadiums/pavilions and training centers in each of the 30 wards.

His administration will also prioritize the establishment of proper ECDE teachers’ career growth guidelines and investing in infrastructure.

Other agendas that Amb. Julius Bitok is hoping Uasin Gishu locals will support to be implemented include;

  • Trade and Investment
  • Health Services
  • Infrastructure
  • Empowerment programs.

This is the second time the former don is vying for the Uasin Gishu gubernatorial seat.

He vied for the seat in 2013 but lost to the current Governor Jackson Mandago during the URP party primaries.

In the August 9, 2022 poll, Amb. Bitok is hoping to be the one that will fly the UDA flag.
