Buzeki Set To Unveil His Running Mate – Reuben Kipkosgei Chepses Arap Koech

Uasin Gishu gubernatorial aspirant Bundotich Zedekiah Kiprop alias Buzeki is this Friday, May 20, 2022, expected to officially unveil Reuben Kipkosgei Chepses Arap Koech as his running mate.

Uasin Gishu News understands Buzeki, vying for the county’s top seat submitted Arap Koech’s name to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) early this week to beat the May 16th dateline, but has been waiting for an appropriate time to officially unveil him to the members of the public.

The anticipated billionaire businessman’s running mate was born in Kebulonik, Nandi County, and is currently living in Uasin Gishu County, Turbo Sub County, Kapsaos/Kamagut Ward.

He has an MBA (Finance and Strategic Management) from The Catholic University of East Africa (CUEA), BBM (Accounting Option) from Moi University, HND Entrepreneurship from KNEC, and Diploma in Management from Kenya Institute of Management.

Arap Koech went to Makongi Boys High School for his O level and Lower Moiben Primary School both in Segero Barsombe Ward, Soi Sub County.

He is currently pursuing Ph.D. BA (Finance Option) at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT).

His Ph.D. thesis is on Public Financial Management Practices and Operational Performance of Selected County Governments in Kenya, where his emphasis is on the budgeting making process, financial reporting, financial controls, and financial planning.

The Buzeki’s running mate started his career as a classroom teacher, before rising through the ranks to be a headteacher and a school manager for more than seventeen years at the Basic Education level and later transitioned to being part-time lecturer at JKUAT.

Currently, Arap Koech works as Education Secretary and Property and Investment Coordinator at the Anglican Church of Kenya, Eldoret Diocese.

By unveiling his deputy, Buzeki will now be ready to hit the ground running, in hope, he will this time around be lucky to win the gubernatorial seat.

He first vied for the Uasin Gishu Governor seat in the 2017 general election but lost to incumbent Governor Jackson Mandago – first in the Jubilee party primaries, and later in the general election after he vied as an independent candidate.

In the upcoming poll, Buzeki who has already started his campaigns will battle UDA nominee Jonathan Bii Chelilim alias Koti Moja in what has been billed as a two-horse race.
