Road infrastructure enhancement and expansion are among the key focuses essential to support the economic and social growth of residents as captured under agenda number six of the Nguzo Kumi blueprint of Uasin Gishu County Governor, Dr. Jonathan Bii Chelilim, EGH.

Uasin Gishu County is changing its story every financial year, as the county government continues to improve the road network, the Dr Bii-led administration through the Department of Roads, Transport and Public Works has graded over 550KMs of roads between August 2023 and January 2024.

Our roads section team has been consistent despite heavy rains during September and December. We expect to achieve the target of about 1200 KMs by the end of March,” Director of Roads, Eng. Julius Ronoh said during a media briefing at his office in Eldoret.

Other ongoing programs are on areas previously impassable and also maintenance of the existing roads. Among them are the Chemusian-Usalama link road and Chepng’oror-Kapchelokos road in Ainabkoi/Olare ward, Greenfields roads in Kuinet/Kapsuswa ward, Race Course ward office roads among others.

Nowadays the time I spend on the road is less and this has translated to the transportation of more goods and making more trips from Kuriot Trading Centre where I operate an Agrovet business. The cost of maintaining my vehicle has drastically gone down and I am making more profits,” Paul Kiplagat Korir, a businessman and a farmer said.

Korir a resident of the Kimoning location in Moiben Sub County adds that Kimoning -Chembulet road is now passable after it was improved late last year but initially, one could not travel when it rained in their area.
