Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii Chelilim on Tuesday, December 6, 2022, presided over the launch of a dormitory at the Eldoret Rescue Centre.
The dormitory was constructed with support from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Speaking at the event, the Governor affirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring the street children at the rescue centre are taken good care of.
He also said the facility has teachers, and preachers all aimed at handling the well-being of the street families.

“Those that have any problems or challenges will be handled here,” the Governor said.
He further noted that they are working on ensuring all the street families have a better place they can call home.
This, the Governor said, will help address the issue of a section of criminals who masquerade as street families to engage in unlawful activities within the town.
“We are all a family and we will do our best to ensure you have a place you can call home. With this centre, nobody will be able to use street families as an excuse to engage in criminal activities,” the Governor said.

All those that have been taken to the rescue centre have also been subjected to medical tests aimed at ensuring they are in a good state of Health.
