Construction works for the Turbo Sub-County Hospital are expected to start soon.
This is after the County Government of Uasin Gishu acquired a piece of land that will be used for the setting up of the hospital.
County officials on Tuesday, April 25, 2022, finalized the acquisition of the land from a family in Turbo, paving way for the construction works.
Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago joined other county officials in the Department of Lands and Physical Planning in sealing the deal.

The Karani family, which agreed to give out part of their land for the Turbo Sub-County hospital handed over the title deed to the county.
“We have finalized the process of acquisition of land for construction of Turbo Sub-County Hospital. This is after we reached an agreement with the Karani family. I sincerely thank the Karanis and the neighboring community for their dedication to the process,” Mandago said.
According to Uasin Gishu Lands and Physical Planning Chief Officer Adv Ruth Chelashaw, the county will pay about Ksh30 million for the 7.9 hectares piece of land.
“We are at the tail end of the process of acquiring the land which we expect to be finalized within the next two weeks,” Adv. Chelashaw told Uasin Gishu News.

“Once we’re done with the process, the land will be handed over to the relevant department to work on construction works,” she added.
The County Government of Uasin Gishu has in the past few years been working on constructing Sub County hospitals in each of the six constituencies.
Already construction works are ongoing for Ziwa Sub-County Hospital in Soy Sub County and Kesses Sub-County Hospital in Kesses.

The Sub-County hospitals being set up are of level 5.
Construction works for the Turbo Sub-County Hospital had been delayed for lack of land, but with the latest acquisition, the process is expected to start.
