The County Government of Uasin Gishu has affirmed its commitment to enhancing the healthcare services of residents as outlined in Governor Jonathan Bii’s manifesto.
Speaking at Barsombe Dispensary in Segero/Barsombe Ward, Soy Sub County, Chief Officer for Promotive and Preventive Health, Joyce Sang, said the County Government is in discussion with Kenya Power to ensure that delays in finances do not affect power provision.
Uninterrupted power, the Chief Officer said, will support the County Government’s agenda of ensuring that the public has access to health services at all times.
“The County Government has had talks with Kenya Power to ensure that in case of delayed finances, our facilities will not be disconnected so that the people to access quality healthcare 24 hours a day,” said the CO.

The Chief Officer also hinted at plans to upgrade Barsombe Dispensary to a health centre after renovations and the introduction of more equipment.
The facility serves the expansive Segero/Barsombe Ward.
On his part, area Administrative Assistant, Paul Biwott, urged the community and the health practitioners to work together to see the residents receive the services with ease saying the facility had reduced its workload due to the services which require electricity.
Samson Ruto, the facility Chairperson, led the community in thanking Governor Bii’s administration for the reconnection of the power which had since interrupted the facility’s operations.
NHIF accreditation
Meanwhile, the county has also revealed plans to ensure all its health facilities are accredited with the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF).
“I am in talks with NHIF on Linda Mama to ensure the facilities are accredited for the residents to receive more services and also install CCTV in all the facilities to indicate when the patient reaches the facility up to the time he leaves,” said the Chief Officer.
She also revealed plans to upgrade Lemoru Ngeny dispensary to being a health centre so that it offers the locals a variety of services and reduces the journeys to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) in Eldoret.
