The County Government of Uasin Gishu has enhanced its fuel storage capacity in a bid to improve service delivery to the people and remain more effective and efficient as it embarks on new road projects earmarked for implementation under the 2023/24 financial year.
On Wednesday, County Executive Committee Member for Roads, Transport and Public Works Engineer Joseph Lagat commissioned a state-of-the-art self-banded fuel tank at the County Yard.
Engineer Joseph Lagat noted that the portable tank with a storage capacity of 18,000 litres has now boosted the storage capacity of the county to above 50,000 litres of diesel alone hence reducing challenges of a fuel shortage for heavy machinery tremendously.
“We are keen to enhance our fuel storage capacity under Governor Bii’s administration to ensure implementation of all projects that will benefit residents of Uasin Gishu runs smoothly without unnecessary delays and hitches,” said CECM Eng. Lagat.
The portable self-banded tank is equipped with a storage capacity of 18000 liters two dispensing pumps, a generator, and a sanction point.
Later in the day, the Roads Department CECM accompanied by Vivo Energy Company Regional Representative Carol Olbara and Director Transport Lazurus Sile commissioned the county fuel attendants who were recently trained by experts from the energy company on new skills on safety regulations, inspection, and testing of fuel products for impurities.
