A decomposing body of an unknown man was found on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, floating inside the abandoned and flooded Mugoya quarry within Kiplombe Ward, in Turbo Sub-County.
This is even as the Uasin Gishu County fire brigade retrieved other three bodies in different parts.
According to residents living near the quarry, led by Wilson Busienei, the man, who appeared to be in his 30s, was spotted by a passerby.

Elsewhere in Kaptinga village in Kipkenyo Ward, the body of a middle-aged pregnant woman was retrieved from River Sosiani in an incident residents alleged was suicidal.
Kaptinga residents said the discovery of the woman’s body has sent the entire village into panic after a man’s body was found on Monday in River Sosiani at Kapsaos area.
The residents said the man had drowned while trying to rescue the pregnant woman.
On Sunday, the fire brigade retrieved a man’s body from a borrow pit in Karuna Meibeki Ward.
Confirming the four incidents, Uasin Gishu Chief Fire Officer David Sitati urged residents to embrace dialogue as a better way of handling family issues.

He also cautioned people to avoid areas near flooded water bodies for their personal safety and to ensure close communication with friends and family members to know their whereabouts.
The four bodies retrieved were taken to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital Mortuary.
