The new administration of Elgeyo Marakwet County has announced all the 10 CECM positions are vacant.
Just days after the swearing-in of the new governor Wisley Rotich and his deputy Prof. Grace Cheserek, the county is now inviting interested candidates to apply for the positions.
In a notice shared on the county’s official Facebook page, those seeking to apply for the 10 County Executive Committee Members (CECM) positions will have until Monday, September 5, 2022, to submit their applications.

“…the county government of Elgeyo Marakwet wishes to recruit qualified and suitable persons to fill ten (10) vacant positions of County Executive Committee Members (CECMs)…” read part of the notice announcing the vacancies.
The CECM positions are;
- Finance and Economic Planning
- Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Irrigation
- Education and Technical Training
- Health Services
- Environment and Climate Change
- Lands, Physical Planning, Housing and Urban Development
- Public Works and Transport
- Cooperatives, Trade, Industrialization, Tourism and Wildlife
- Sports, Youth Affairs, Children and Social Services
- Public Service, Devolution, Administration, Communication, ICT and E-Government.
Requirements
To apply for any of the above CECM positions, one must be a Kenyan and a holder of a degree from a recognized university.
Those interested must also satisfy the requirement of Chapter 6 of the constitution.

CECMs are some of the critical county government officers.
They sit in the County cabinet also referred to as the County Executive Committee chaired by the governor.
However, their appointment is subject to interviews that are conducted by the County Public Service Board.
Further, successful candidates are usually appointed by the governor, subject to approval by the County Assembly.
