Eldoret Agricultural Hub, the first of its kind has been officially opened in Eldoret town.

Top officials from the National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) presided over the official opening of the Agri Hub on Friday, February 18, 2022.

Speaking during the event, NCPB chairman Mutea Iringo said the hub will be a one-stop-shop for farmers in the region.

This is like a Huduma center where farmers can access all farm inputs from fertilizers, seeds, machinery, financing among other farming-related advice,” said Iringo.

“It is a one-stop-shop where the farmer is able to come in and go out with a solution to his/her problems,” he added.

The Eldoret Agricultural Hub will be hosted at the NCPB stores, located opposite the Eldoret Police line, next to the Kenya Seed store.

According to Iringo, the Agri Hub will also be used to provide advice to farmers on a variety of issues – from financing, seeds suitable for certain areas, and appropriate machinery for use.

More such hubs are expected to be set up across the country.

“This concept will be rolled out across the country and we’re sure farmers will have an opportunity to learn and benefit from it,” noted the NCPB chairman.

The Agricultural Hub in Eldoret was set up through a collaboration between NCPB and manufacturers of various agricultural products.

We are giving an opportunity for manufacturers to showcase their products,” said Iringo.

Aside from NCPB showcasing its products and services, the hub also has public and private organizations involved in the agriculture industry – among them the Agricultural Finance Corporation.
