Jonathan Bii, a leading Uasin Gishu gubernatorial aspirant is mourning the death of his father.
According to a post on his official Facebook page, his father Mzee Wilson Kibii Maru Chelilim died on Wednesday, January 12, 2022.
Mzee Chelilim has been battling sickness for a long time.
“We regret to announce the unfortunate demise of Mzee Chelilim who rested this morning after a long sickness bravely borne,” Jonathan Bii posted.
He thanked all that have prayed and supported the family during the illness.
“Thank you for your prayers and support during the time of his illness. We ask for your continued prayers as we celebrate his life and prepare to lay him to rest,” noted the Uasin Gishu gubernatorial aspirant.

A number of leaders in Uasin Gishu have already sent a message of condolences to the family of Jonathan Bii.
Veska Kangogo, also a Uasin Gishu gubernatorial aspirant, in her message of condolence described the late Maru Chelilim as an incredible icon.
“We are deeply saddened by the news of demise of an incredible icon Mzee Wilson Kibii Maru Chelilim. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Mr Jonathan Bii Kimeli Bii Chelilim. May our friendship and prayers ease you through this difficult time..mutyo missing,” Veska Kangogo posted.
Burial arrangements are ongoing.

Jonathan Bii is among over 10 aspirants that are seeking to get the UDA ticket to vie for the Uasin Gishu gubernatorial seat in the upcoming poll.
He is considered among the favorites to get the UDA ticket.
