Joy for Locals As Besiobor-Kosachei Bridge in Tapsagoi Ward Is Completed

Residents of Tapsogoi ward in Turbo sub-county have expressed their joy and satisfaction following the completion of the Besiobor-Kosachei bridge and the ongoing construction of the Tarus-Murgusi bridge which is 80% into completion.

The Department of Roads, Transport, Energy and Public Works led by resident engineer Benjamin Kirongo accompanied by assistant resident engineer Micheal Keter while on inspection of the projects, said that beyond solving the challenges of road connectivity and network, the bridges will aid the residents who are majorly farmers in accessing markets for their farm produce and products and promoting agricultural activities.

Apart from maize and sugarcane farming, most farmers in the area have embraced high-value crops like coffee, avocado and macadamia, dairy farming and poultry rearing.

Since the inception of the devolution in 2013, the Uasin Gishu County Department of Roads, Transport, Energy and Public Works has played a major role in the improvement of infrastructural projects.

This has helped enhance connectivity, improve security and a better road network across the county compared to how it was before.

Through the department which is also mandated to advise and oversee the construction of projects for other departments, the governor Jackson K . Arap Mandago-led administration has made major strides by constructing 60 bridges and completing over 1069.5KM of roads graded, over 411.2KM of roads gravelled, and improved the lighting connectivity program both in rural and urban areas by over 1400 LED street lights, 6404 LED street lights were installed.

The county constructed a new fire station in Burnt Forest and Maili Nne to reduce response to incidents.

Linking rural to urban areas

With the completion of flagship road projects rolled out under the leadership of Governor Mandago, it has created linkages between rural and urban areas hence promoting residents’ economy.

The new roads have created linkages between rural and urban areas.

This includes the construction of Box Culverts, Culverts, improvement of roads to bitumen standards and maintenance of all-weather roads.

According to Mark Kipsang and Harun Kosut of Ng’eny village, Segero Barsombe ward in Soy Sub County, the construction of Cheukta-Ng’eny Box Culvert has solved the problem of perennial flooding that led to the destruction of crops and hindrance to the movement of goods and services in the area.

The bridges include Kaprorio-Kapchesogor (Sergoit ward) and Saina Box Culvert  (Kapseret/Simat ward), Cheukta-Ng’eny(Segero/Barsombe ward), Chepsaita-Ng’enyilel Box Culvert (Ng’enyilel ward), Kabitoi -Tendwo (Tembelio/Kaptagat ward), Kapsaos-Kapkoros (Kapsaos ward), Kapkeno -Timor (Ainabkoi/Olare ward),Kamoson in Ngeria ward, Chelasgei-Kapkoros bridge in Karuna/Meibeki ,Bodalands – Chelabal Box Culvert in Ngeria ward and Kamoson box culvert in Kapseret/Simat.
