In order to provide improved and better health services, Elgeyo Marakwet Governor Alex Tolgos on Thursday, July 28, 2022, inaugurated the Flax Health Center maternity wing and ambulances for Chepkorio ward, Keiyo South sub-county.

All this is in an effort to bring services closer to the residents who transversed long distances to seek critical health services.
Governor Tolgos said that his administration was determined to ensure Elgeyo Marakwet residents had access to quality affordable health care services by constructing and operationalizing more health facilities and maternity wings within the county.

“Every mother and newborn child deserves an equal chance of survival during the childbirth process. Your testimonies show what the residents really lacked,” said Governor Tolgos.

Covid-19 vaccination campaign
“The department of health shall also increase the staff to ensure proficiency of the facility,” said the CO.

Governor Tolgos also launched the fifth Covid 19 vaccine outreach program.

Mzee Julias Kibor, a resident of Flax recalled how he used to struggle to refer pregnant women who were in labour to Eldoret to seek medication. Others could deliver on road because of the distance
“I would like to thank the county government for construction of the maternity and the ambulance because initially, our wives used to deliver on the road because of lack of ambulance and the distance the hospital,” said Mzee Kibor.
